The health benefits of ginger are becoming well known, and ginger and pear give a great combination of tastes. I’ve given the option of adding a little cocoa to this, to give a chocolatey treat! To get the juice of the ginger without the stringy pulp, press it through a garlic press. This is a very warm and soothing smoothie, and particular good if you are feeling a little under the weather. Leave out the ice if you want the more warming effect.
o Flesh of two ripe pears
o Juice from a 1 inch/2cm piece of ginger (see above)
o 1½ cups of almond milk
o 1tsp of cocoa, added to the milk (optional)
Blend all of the other ingredients, add ice and blend again.
